Missile Defense Around the Corner

Apparently, the military has been hard at work beneath the radar (so to speak) developing the SDI type weapon promised by the President four years ago. And now, it appears that it's ready to go active. I know that I had no idea the deployment was quite so imminent but a rudimentary system could be online by the end of this year. I just hope that they continue to develop this and not let it become a massive black-hole of government money spent on a dying project. I have mixed feelings about the idea in general, but we do need some sort of defense from countries that would use nuclear weapons.
