Walker Reading Technologies has discovered that the brain reads block text as if we were seeing through a straw. That is, we not only see the word we're looking at, but also two lines above and below. Their solution? Live Ink. Live Ink automatically reformats the text so that it is broken up into phrases and makes it much easier on the eyes. As someone who can zone out and get lost in long paragraphs (I never did claim to have a long attention span :-P), I would find the Live Ink version of a paragraph much easier to read. The downside is that pages would be much longer.
