I am not a big sports guy in general. But I have been a faithful Phillies fan since 1980 when they last won the world series. I want to congratulate my beloved team on winning the National League East pennant. And I hope they go on to the World Series.
And my sympathies to CRChair on his poor Mets.

How about Shadowmom and her Yankees? No congrats for them making the playoffs? :-(
Shadowmom, people just don't think about us the same way as other fans. but how great is it that we came back from 14.5 games out and made the playoffs. woohoo! now if only the @#%#@#$ red sox would get swept by the angels we'd be all set.
If the Yankees hadn't been down 14.5 they wouldn't NEED the Red Sox to be swept by the Angels...
Honestly, I figured there were plenty of other Yankees fans out there to speak up for the Bronx Bombers, but I was the only Phillies fan around here.
Plus, frankly, what exactly is exciting or unusual about the Yanks being in the playoffs? Steinbrenner always spends what is needed to get there. What is unusual is when they DON'T make the first round.
Poor Me.
@red sox fan
Even if the yankees had never been down 14.5 games, the red sox would still be in the playoffs, so we would still need somebody to beat them. and quite frankly i don't care who beats them as long as they lose.
I say we call a prayer meeting to oppose the Red Sox. Who's with me?
almost with you anonymous... change it to "I say we call a prayer meeting to oppose the Yankees" and I'm with you.
I normally could care less about baseball, but due to the number of annoying Yankees fans, I've become an anti-Yankees person which has led me to root for, when I root for someone, the Red Sox.
@quizwedge
you see this is the difference between growing up in southern new england and northern new england. due to the number of annoying Red Sox fans I've become an anti-Red Sox person and in tern a Yankee fan.
I grew up deep in BoSox territory, and then moved to the fringe of Yankees territory.
I tend to root for the Sox but then, I like the Yankees too (my grandfather and his brothers had season tickets to Yankees games in the 50's and 60's, so I have a long history of Yankees fans in my family).
So I'm just really confused. Maybe I'll root for the Phillies like Nomad...
Sean has said it all. :-)
