In new Polls released today, Hilary Clinton is no longer the most electable Democrat running for President. She trails all 5 of the top Republican candidates in one on one matchups. (Guliani, McCain, Romney, Thompson, Huckabee) John Edwards and Barak Obama both lead the Republicans in the same match-ups. This can't be good news for the Clinton campaign as their best argument is that she is the strongest candidate in a general election.

The problem with running a campaign based on being the inevitable winner is when one (or more ) of your competition starts to prove you otherwise. With Obama now leading her in the polls in Iowa, be it ever so slightly, her campaign might have to start focusing on real issues rather than how much better than everybody else she is. The next month should be interesting. It'll be even more interesting if Obama manages to beat her in Iowa and the mystique of her being the inevitable nominee takes a serious ding.
As Bill Krystol said on Fox New Sunday yesterday, now is when the real campaign begins and everybody - not just political junkies - starts paying attention. The polls will be volatile because real people change their minds all the time. We're in for a fun month.
I don't like Hillary, but the other dems scare me as much as she does.
