I am considered by most objective observers to be one of those strange beasts called an "Evangelical." I believe the Bible (Old and New Testament) is the inspired Word of God, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died and was raised to life on the third day, and I enjoy wearing t-shirts with overtly Christian slogans on them. But even I am not sure what to make of the claims that a group of "Evangelicals" believe Interstate 35 is the highway of holiness prophecied in Isaiah 35. Apparently, Pat Robertson did a major piece on it (which is not a recommendation to me, based on our past posts about false prophets).
And a highway will be there;Even as a man of faith who believes in prophecy, I simply fail to see any connection. Why not one of the many Route 35s around the world? I have to hope that I am missing something. If there is anyone out there from this group who reads Mod-Blog, I'd love to hear from you in the comments section explaining it.
it will be called the Way of Holiness.
The unclean will not journey on it;
it will be for those who walk in that Way;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
Isaiah 35:8 (NIV)

Wow...I am embarrased to be a Christian after reading that. Seriously...Isaiah was thinking about the US when he wrote? What a joke.
You know, let's come up with some idiotic idea about a stupid bit of pavement being 'holy' so that we don't have to worry about the homeless out in the cold, the poor starving to death, the children being abused, thousands dying in genocide the world over, and all the other evils of the world.
It's a lot easier to pray over some pavement than it is to get out there and love those dirty rotten sinners! I know we all have our faults and our things we will be judged for in the end, but I have to say that I would not want to be in those people's shoes when they have to stand before the God of all creation and account for such stupidity.
Absolutely disgraceful, and an abomination to the name of our Lord and savior.
I have to admit, those were essentially the same thoughts I had... though expressed a lot more baldly than I would have. This is why I am hoping there is someone out there who can explain it to me and show why it is not pure human foolishness.
And did you hear... there was a 35 car pileup on 35 the other day... some blessed road huh?
I had the same thoughts... and the thought that it is VERY bad Bible interp.
I did not hear that. Interesting.
