I know that we would all agree that both Policy and a person's personal qualities are important when picking a president. But assuming a candidate meets the minimum requirements for you in each category, which do you think is more important when picking a President, The Person or Policies? Policies. There are a lot of people I would like as a person who would not necessarily carry out the policies I thing are important.
For me, the policies form the minimum acceptable test for a politician. They inform whether or not I can support a given person in general (for example, I require Pro-Life in a president). Then the person is what makes me choose between those who are acceptable.
This time around, Guiliani and McCain take them out on the Policy test (Prochoice and Immigration problems respectively). Then I am left with the remainders as possible votes, but I begin to consider the people (Plasticman Romney, Lazy Fred, etc.)
For me it is definitely the man. There are some people who are "Presidential" and some who are not.
