Everyone I have spoken to or read who owns a MacBook Air love it. But it is definitely NOT the device for me, and this spoof by/for Lenovo makes the point pretty well as to what the Air leaves out. Plus, it makes me laugh.

if i was looking for an ultra portable i might end up with the X300. as much as i like my mac, unless i needed one the Air doesn't seem to be worth all the money.
When I upgrade, I plan to get another MacBook (not Pro). It meets my needs admirably, is smaller and lighter than (but not thinner) than the comparable MacBook Pro, but still has all the ports I want (at least 2 USB, at least 1 Firewire, microphone, earphone, etc.) and a built-in DVD drive.
It would be nice to see a BluRay drive in the next MacBook revision, too.
Honestly, of PC laptops, only the ThinkPads (up till now always IBM, now Lenovo) have consistently stood up and worked well for me. All the others - and I mean ALL the others - had serious design flaws which made them painful to use.
I really like my MacBook Air. You'd be surprised how rarely you use the DVD drive. ( I do have the external Superdrive for when needed.) I do agree that for most people it is not a great only computer. But for those who have more than one computer, it is a great laptop.
My Dell Latitude has served me well. Like Ward, I rarely use my DVD drive, but I've got an extra bay battery instead of the DVD drive in my system most of the time. I like having all of that backup power. If there was a way to change the battery / have a bay battery on the Air, then I'd see it as a fit for me. Not that I'm in the position for a new computer yet, but that's what I've missed with Apple laptops since moving from my Pismo to my Titanium PowerBook.
