Ididaride

Our resident outdoorman, Bowhunter, sent me this link for a biking event in the Northeast that some Mod-Bloggers might be interested in.

75 miles is WAY too long for my current level of fitness (I can do about 5 miles on a weekday and 10 miles on a weekend day). But it might be doable as some fraction of that ride. Who knows? We'll see as the date grows closer.

I think 75 miles in the Adirondacks is probably to much for me as well:( But maybe we could try our own "Iditaride/CT" and do the Airline Trail or something...

The nice thing about organized rides like this is that they have rest stops in short enough intervals that even people with minimal fitness levels can manage the ride. My dad, who is SO not fit and much closer to Nomad's size than Lance Armstrong's, managed to do the Trek Across Maine, which is 60 miles a day for 3 days, twice even without much training. So, don't blow this off too quickly.

...And if you still don't feel up to the 75 mile ride, the 20 mile ride is an option.

Sean,

Definitely not "blowing this off." But going from 10 miles to 75 miles when I started - let's be frank - about as unfit as possible, is probably not practical. Next year, sure! This year, not so much. But we'll see about the 20 mile option, as you say.
