The wilderness gap

We've discussed some of the issues surrounding that lack of wilderness in the lives of children. It seems that there is a push to make this a real issue among some people. I don't know if it deserves its own syndrome name, but its definitely an issue that parents need to be aware of.

Interesting. But I have to say that I fail to see the "disorder" side of this. The stuff about kids being happier in the woods than in the house is just as likely to be due to the basic exercise.

Still, there is certainly value in getting oot and aboot. If only to learn about nature firsthand, and to lose fear of bugs and dirt.

i agree the syndrome aspect is, i think, a side effect of our syndrome happy society. but i do think that there is a lot of value to getting your kids out in the wild.
