Air and Rope to Defend Against Pirates

BCB has created the Buccaneer, a ship-based device that uses compressed air and a rope or net to stop pirates in their tracks. The Buccanner is fires and when the prop of the pirates' boat runs over it, it becomes entangled and the boat stops. As a commenter mentions, it probably won't do anything for jet ski type craft. A good idea, but how long until the pirates add jet skis to their fleets

We are working too hard at this. Just shoot them. The best deterrent is also the most effective at stopping the attack.

Well said, BH. Didn't Teddy Roosevelt actually task the navy with wiping out (i.e. simply killing) pirates in his day?

I agree that the navies should be doing this, but this is geared for commercial ships. Do we really want to outfit commercial ships with on board weaponry? Do we want to pay the cost in our goods for having on-board commandos , etc? This should be able to be used by those already on board.
