Well, it was a long, dark night. But the sun is rising again, and it is the start of a new day!
For those who missed it, about a month ago, Mod-Blog was hacked by some who claimed to be a foreign political activist. He claimed to want to raise awareness of certain international issues... but all he really did was insert Google AdSense links all over the page, and collect the pennies that rolled in. We were not the only ones impacted - there were literally dozens of blogs stolen.
But after a month of waiting patiently for Google's infamous customer service, we're up. We now hope to return to our irregularly scheduled programming.

USPS Servers Going Up In Smoke
As of yesterday, it appears that the U.S. Post Office is having trouble with their servers that allow programs to get a real time shipping quote. Developers of e-commerce solutions are having to find backup solutions such as estimating shipping costs or building current shipping costs into their program as the USPS. As of 9:20 AM PST, they were still down. Here's hoping that no Mod-Blog readers are affected by this.

Blackberry E-mail Service is Down
Apparently, the popular BlackBerry devices from RIM are 100% dead in the second major outage in a year. With many people in business, politics, and government reliant on these devices for day-to-day operations, it may encourage more people to jump ship to Apple's iPhone, Danger's Sidekick, or Microsoft's Windows Mobile devices.
UPDATE 2:42 PM: I an reading that the outage has been resolved.
