Debate + 12 Hours: Well Done, Gentlemen

I only caught the debate until 10 PM EST (blame it on a 5 AM wake-up call) but SignOnSanDiego (who has the advantage of 3 more hours in their day than I did) pretty much agrees with my assessment: good job to both candidates. Unlike the 2000 debate, which turned in sighs and overblown theatrics, this debate actually was about (GASP!) ideas! And positions! As of 12 hours (well a bit less) after the debates, reaction is positive for both sides. Kerry stood up well under the lights (as expected of a guy who FOUNDED his own debate club) and Bush did not waver under attack (to be expected from a man who lead through 9/11). But now comes the reinterpretation of the debates by pundits and (perhaps most importantly) Saturday Night Live. We'll see who the comedians savage and who the pundits punch. But I suspect there will be more room for comedy in the second debate.
