Shortage of Sugar-Free Treats?

Having been on the Atkins Diet myself, and having several family members who are diabetics, I am very familiar with the artificial sweetener, Splenda. A good definition/explanation of the sweetener can be found here. Splenda generally makes the best sugar-free backed goods, too, because it is stable under heating. Well, it appears that dieters and diabetics have an issue, because there will be a shortage of Splenda starting next year! Not good. Especially, for those not yet on thier diets who were hoping to use this to help the transition to a healthier eating plan.
