Star Trek, Here We Come!

For decades, it has been a staple of science fiction starship shows, and now NASA is trying to bring it down to earth: an antimatter-based space engine! Okay, it not quite "back to earth" since an antimatter engine would put out far more radiation (i.e. too much) than a nuclear engine. Still, it is exciting to see this kind of research in process, because it is the way that we might actually see the way to the stars opened up.

Now, if only we could find a way to exceed the speed of light! Well, we'll leave that for next year.
