MacWorld Keynote Info

Sean left this in the comments section, but I thought it was worth escalating his "round-up" of MacWorld Keynote announcements to the front page.

New iPhoto - face recognition, geotagging, facebook & flickr integration

New iMovie - Better editor, image stabalization

iTMS: DRM free music (80% now entire catelog by end of quarter)

MacBook Pro 17"
The other interesting announcement was iWork '09 which includes "iWork.Com" integration, which appears to be a competitor to Google Docs. The Beta will be free, but the eventual service will be pay. Hopefully, the cost will be included in a MobileMe subscription.

The feed that I was watching didn't make the iWork things very clear. It sounds interesting, but I don't know why someone would pay for this service when they can get Google Docs for free - and with Google Gears it works well even without an internet connection. I guess we'll have to see if it actually works out for them.

So wait... iTMS... is this different from iTunes? DRM free is WONDERFUL. I would actually buy music from them more often (right now I use a great service called AmieStreet.com, but they don't always have the bigger names).

Nick, that's correct. The downside is that there is or will be variable pricing on tracks now so songs may be cheaper... as low as $0.69, but may be more expensive... as expensive as $1.29. (I think I have those numbers right.) The upside is that they're changing from 128 bit AAC to 256 bit AAC so songs will be better quality.
