My dad would actually be in the dog house for buying that since my mom already has something like that and it would be seen as a waste of money to buy another. My mom is not only nuts, but also a very thrifty new englander.
My wife would LOVE IT if I bought her a nice pink Dyson - no joke. She asks for vacuum cleaners and mops and stuff for presents. I think it's a sickness, but hey it works.
My husband refused to buy me anything for the house as a gift. So I had to wait years for a microwave! But it WAS sweet that he wanted gifts to be something for me only and not for "the house".
