I love "unintended consequences" stories, but sometimes you come across a story where the outcome was entirely foreseeable and thus not truly "unintended". Take the case of Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, who defied the census and advised her constituents to do the same. Her reasoning was that the Constitution only required enumeration and no more from citizens.
What was the outcome? It appears that Minnesota will be losing a congressional seat from the census... and it is almost certain to be hers. Oops. Perhaps it is time to rethink the strategy. Then again, it is probably too late.
