Deep Question of the Day

This one is not about philosophy, but annoyance. Why is it every time I finally pay off a credit card, I immediately get an e-mail telling me about "more ways to use your credit card" or have my credit limit automatically raised? The credit companies more and more these days act like drug dealers. "Oh, you're trying to get clean? How about one more free sample?"

And I say that as a bank employee. When I pay down my car loan, the bank doesn't try to get me to buy a boat on loan!

What is the incentive for female suicide bommers?

Today 2 women blew themselves up in a suicide attack on a pet market. In this case the women were supposedly mentally disabled, but there seems to have been a rash of female suicide attack recently. This got me to thinking, what is the incentive for women to do this type of thing. The men of course have the glory of Allah, as well as the promise of 70 virgins when they get to heaven. Women can, of course, glorify Allah by doing this sort of thing, but is there an equivalent promise to the 70 virgins for the women? I'm being serious here, no disrespect intended at all. I doubt any of our readers know the answer to this question, but it does seem vexing to me. Thoughts....?

How would you find a church?

I'm in the early phases of working on a church directory website. I'm hoping to make the site work in such a way that when a person wants to find a church in a particular area they could select certain items that are important to them and find churches that meet that criteria. So, here's my question: if you had just moved someplace new - say Seattle (since I know most of our readers don't live there) - what criteria would you use to find a church that fit you? What doctrinal issues are important to you? Does church size matter? You don't have to mention denomination or worship style since those are kind of given as criteria (though if there is a very particular nuance that's important to you then you can mention it).

I look forward to hearing your responses.
