Democrats Probe Ohio Vote... Uh, For Purely Altriustic Reasons, Of Course

While third party candidates are openly calling for a recount, the Democratc party has decided to eschew an official (read: fair and has no chance of overturning the election) recount in favor of a party-funded "probe" (read: can be turned into what the partisans need to hurt President Bush).

McAuliffe said the party is not seeking to overturn the result but to ensure that every vote is counted. He said the study will be conducted by nonpartisan experts to be announced later, with a report issued in the spring that recommends reforms to prevent such problems in the future... ``If the Democrats want to pay for a study to help them sleep at night, that's fine,'' he said in a statement. ``Just don't expect anyone to believe it's credible.''
Let me predict now exactly what the probe's report will say: "There is not enough evidence of fraud to acually challenge the election, but there are more than sufficient questions to show that Bush is an illegitamate president and therefore has no right to govern at all." How non-partisan.
