Apparently, there is one single little group responsible for 99.8% of complaints to the FCC in this past year. The Parents Television Council has apparently been busy this past year.
I don't know exactly what to think of all the fuss. I thought that NippleGate was seriously overblown but I can understand that I wouldn't want my children to be subjected to it either. And true, language has definitely gotten much worse on the television. But I still hold that you can't expect people (on their own volition) to act differently from what they basically are. A lot of people in this country swear often, so of course their writing will include language. Let's face it, we're a dirty-mouthed country. We're also a country that glorifies in the subjugating and fantasy making exploitation of the female body. But these things won't disappear off the television if there's a market for them.
The problem isn't in the TV, the problem is in us. Unless we start taking progressive, rather than reactionary, action then we will not see change. You can't lead by reacting to what others do. You lead by setting out your course and sticking to it.
